ABOUT ME

Jodie R Menish, MSW, LCSW

If you seek my assistance, my hope for you is that you feel heard, accepted and understood in a space that is free of judgement. As you deal with the most painful feelings of your lifetime and the hardest circumstances you’ve ever experienced, kindness and compassion are a winning solution. You can be assured that I will see you and I will hear you.

I offer the experience of a seasoned therapist, who is not afraid to tell you as plainly as can be said, what your best options are. For couples, I have been extensively trained in the Gottman Method. This type of couples therapy is research-based with proven success. I also incorporate the methods of Terry Real in Relational Life Therapy. For those who have experienced trauma, I am a Certified Brainspotting Therapist. Brainspotting is a highly effective processing tool that can be used effectively in both individual and couple sessions. I have seen this heal my clients and help their relationships transform from the deepest of levels. I also am a certified provider for the Safe and Sound Protocol by Stephen Porges, PhD. This is an amazing bonus available to you as a part of your therapy. It will be transformative as you re-tune your polyvagal nerve and learn to stay anchored in a more calm and creative nervous system state. With the skills obtained by my experience and training, we will work on this together and get you better. I’d like to help you change your life, without changing the people around you. There is a good, stable, joyful life waiting for you. Let’s make it happen. Let’s get there together. You are the source; I am the voice. Whether it's job, family, marital or a difficult life situation, I am willing to jump in there with you to get it figured out. Call me. I look forward to hearing your story.

WHY CHOOSE ME

PROFFESIONAL EXPERIENCE

I began my social work education in 1984 at the University of Kentucky. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1986. I figured out, during this time, that I really liked the mental health role of social workers. I decided to go for a Master of Social Work with an emphasis on the clinical, mental health setting. Upon completing my MSW at the University of Kentucky in 1988, I went right to work at a community mental health center and began to pursue my LCSW, which stands for Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After four years of clinical experience, supervision, training and test taking, I earned my LCSW in 1992. I then pursued various clinical and administrator roles as an LCSW and eventually landed in private practice in 1998.

I’ve never looked back. I have thoroughly enjoyed the role of a private practitioner, due to the amazing, strong, kind, and hardworking clients that I have been able to help over the years. Being my own boss is awesome too. There is nothing in the way of our therapeutic relationship. We set the rules and make it happen. It has been a humbling and gratifying experience to be invited into people’s lives, to process their innermost thoughts and feelings, at some of their most vulnerable times. To be entrusted with this care and responsibility has made me want to get better and better at what I do. I realize how important my professional help is to you and those around you. I hope this is helpful in your decision to entrust me with your care.
